Clear Plastic Boxes

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Clear plastic boxes are a great thing to have around the house because they are so useful for a variety of tasks and chores around the home. In fact, there are so many clear plastic boxes around my home that it really is amazing at all the uses I have found for them. Now I know it sounds like a very mundane topic, talking about a plastic box and such, but you too will be amazed at how many ideas or reminders that pop into your head. My friends and family would say that I do tend to store a lot of things and am somewhat of a neat freak despite all the items I have managed to acquire over many years. Luckily, I am not a pack rat like a friend of mine who buys and stores everything that is never to be seen again!

Now organization is definitely the largest use for any type of clear plastic boxes. Whether large or small, having a good variety of storage type of bins and boxes is what you want around the home. One of the things I really like to make sure when I am out buying containers and boxes for storage purposes is that the boxes can easily fit into another when not in use. That way they aren’t all just taking up space. Makes sense?

Also, I like to make sure that they are not the cheap type of clear plastic boxes if I am needing to store something that is valuable or heavy. I don’t like to see lids or sides bending and shifting under weight if I can avoid it so I go for the clear plastic boxes that have thick, durable sides. Plus, you want to make sure that the lids are strong too so that you can stack boxes up on top of one another. Then, remember to put the heavier boxes closest to the floor and lightweight items at the top.

One other reason why I really prefer to use clear plastic boxes is so that I can see what is in them. I really don’t like to dig around for things only to find out it’s not in there. Sure, labels can help but sometimes you really need to just get into a box and take a good amount of time to shuffle things around if you are searching for something that is just so elusive.

On a lighter note, I really enjoy using clear plastic boxes because I like to have my children paint things on them for decoration and the clear plastic just looks so much better than those that are colored.

Compartment Boxes

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Storing all those little things around the home or office sure can be a pain in the neck if you don’t have the right organizational tools to help you get the job done. That’s where compartment boxes will be a very large and great help for you. Some people have different preferences when it comes to storing their smaller items like using plastic bags or open shelves. But for me I find that compartment boxes have been my standard, go-to choice when it comes to storage. This article will discuss why I think everyone should have at least a few sets of compartment boxes around the home for times when you just need to get things stored away nice and neat.

There is nothing more of an eye sore than seeing a bunch of small items scattered about your desk, floor, or bedroom dresser. In fact, I’d rather clean up a mess that only had a few larger items then have to deal with a mess of any size when there are smaller items involved. One of the first things you want to do is get a set of compartment boxes even if you don’t need it at the moment. That way when the time comes to clean up a mess or your children need something to put their small little trinkets in you will always have compartment boxes on hand. That’s like cleaning up the mess before it even happened.

One of the things that I enjoy doing is beading and making jewelry so you can imaging how organized things must be if I am to continue enjoying this favorite past time of mine. I use compartment boxes of all sorts and sizes depending on what type of jewelry or ornamental figure I am making. This has allowed me to keep everything sorted by color, size, or type of bead for example. Prior to that I had all of my supplies in ziplock bags but those just didn’t seem too nice. Also, opening and re-closing those bags kind of got to be an inconvenience. I like compartment boxes that simple open and close very easily without much fuss.

Compartment boxes are also good to keep around the house for children. My children are always losing things like the shoes that came with the barbie doll or the gadget that came with the toy robot. Do you know where I normally find them? Under my feet causing me pain because they were on the floor and I stepped on them! Now I keep cheap compartment boxes ready for any moment where the children may be having a hard time storing those small little accessories themselves.

In the garage my husband always uses compartment boxes to help organize his little items that used to be all over his work station. But now everything, well almost everything, is sitting in appropriate sized containers in an organized fashion. Screws, nails, nuts, bolts, etc. all have their own little compartment boxes to sit in. He’s a lot happier because of it and I’m happier too to know that our garage isn’t filled with little sharp things for people step on or flatten a tire.

Corrugated Plastic Boxes

Do you have a packaging or organizing project in the works, then you want to take a look at using corrugated plastic boxes as your solution. Many people for years have been using regular corrugated cardboard boxes that are not very strong or big, bulky metal file boxes which take up space and weigh a ton. Consider the use of corrugated plastic boxes as an alternative to those solutions because you will be much happier and efficient in your organizing and packaging tasks.

Take a look at this, most corrugated plastic boxes are many times stronger and weigh much lighter than using traditional cardboard boxes. You may have seen corrugated plastic boxes used in offices as a tool to file away papers and documents but many have not consider using it in and around the house as well. Standard boxes are strong enough to have a few boxes stacked on top of each other which is a great way to save space by going vertical.

Using plastic boxes is also a great idea because you won’t be able to find durable, reliable, and versitle alternatives that come close. Cleaning them is simple by wiping with a moist cloth and will not stain should you accidentally spill or drop your box into liquids. They also will not sag or misshape so you can count on them to not damage your documents. Plus, many of these boxes allow you to fold them flat so you can store them easily without taking up space if you are not using them. Simply open and fold them back to shape when you need them means you save money by not having to keep on buying standard cardboard boxes that break and misshape easily.

I enjoy using these lightweight boxes around the home and office because they are simply tough and easy to maneuver. Some corrugated plastic boxes come reinforced with steel or metal bands which adds more strength and durability keeping your files or objects safe. These are the type of boxes that I find most useful for shipping files or other contents around to other locations because of their durability – never had anything damaged using these types of corrugated plastic boxes.

Other things I like about corrugated plastic boxes is that putting them together is pain free since you don’t need any type of tapes or glues to set them up. I have also found that the assorted sizes and colors is also excellent for use because I can track what is what according to color or size. Corrugated plastic boxes are simply one of those things that has really helped me rein in the organizational mess in my home and office.

Large Plastic Boxes

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

The other day when I was going through our closets and trying to get things organized, I realized that I was missing one thing that was holding me back: large plastic boxes. You see for many years I had been simply stuffing things inside cardboard boxes and rubbish bags – even though the items were clearly not rubbish! It sure was a hassle going through all those items and trying to decide whether or not it’d be a great idea or throw them away or keep them. But if I kept them, then where would they go?

I knew my wife wouldn’t too happy if I just pulled everything out of everywhere and just re-stacked them into another pile leaving me with the same mess that I started with. So reluctantly I asked the wife how she would go about organizing the obvious moutian of a mess and that’s where the day suddenly seemed to get a bit brighter. She suggested the use of large plastic boxes – luckily we both had the same idea. Now it wouldn’t be a challenge to convince her of our need to buy them.

First thing I really wanted with my large plastic boxes was that they also be transparent. That way if I am ever looking for something in particular not only will there be a label on the box, but I can visually see what is in there before having to open them up. Very convenient. So if you are looking for large plastic boxes for your organizational needs then I’d also suggest that you get the kind that are transparent for ease.

If you are planning on using large plastic boxes for outdoor use, then you will want to use those with a solid color. That way you are blocking out sunlight which leads to the eventual breakdown or fading of your contents inside if that is a concern. But the biggest reason I suggest getting boxes that are not transparent is so that people won’t snoop around should you be storing something of value. Privacy is also something you should consider.

I also opted for the “heavy duty” type of large plastic boxes so that I could easily stack the boxes on one another. Being able to stack the boxes really helped me make smart use of the space we had in our attic and also in the closets. Plus the large plastic boxes I got online are durable and will last a long time compared to those old cardboard boxes I’d always used. Nothing is more frustrating than carrying a box full of stuff and have it warp or have the bottom fall out with everything that was inside.

Well, it only took me a couple days to get the mess in order and everything organized. I ended up throwing away nearly half of everything that we had accumulated over the years which really freed up a lot of space. I couldn’t have gotten it done without those large plastic boxes though. They really came in handy and no there are no piles of eyesores behind every closet door. That makes the wife even happier.

This type of filing cabinet is perfect for those who want to use somewhere like a counter top or desk to store additional files. Depending on the height of your desktop or table that you set this filing cabinet on, you could even utilize the top of the drawers as a storage surface for file trees.
